Question: Why are the x265 files so large on so many shows this season? The biggest reason I started downloading x265 is because they had decent quality in a smaller file.

Large? Here's some perspective. It's just under 1/3 the size of the original .mp4, and about the same size as a 480p xvid, which is lower resolution and lower quality.
As for this show in particular, there are a lot of special effects, a lot of detail, and lots of movement. That takes more bandwidth that static scenes in simple settings, like most dramas.
